Noir Originals is looking for opening extracts from new original noir novels, published or otherwise, for which you hold the copyright. Please send the opening chapter (two at most) of your novel within the body of an email. Attachments will not be read.
If you haven't received a reply within a month, sorry, you haven't been successful. Here are some of the possible reasons we didn't feature you this time:

| Overuse of passive voice |
| Lack of oblique dialogue |
| Overuse of complete sentences in dialogue |
| Fondness for adverbs |
| Fondness for using adjectives in pairs |
| Telling, not showing |
| Characters with no clear goals |
| Characters with nothing better to do than smile, grin, shrug or sigh |
| Descriptions that hold up the story |
| Bad punctuation, bad grammar, bad spelling |
| You sent an attachment, didn't you? |
If you do receive a reply, well done. Successful authors will be asked to provide a review/article/essay, etc., to accompany the novel extract.
